First Aid & Emergency Care Programs

Proper Attire

Make sure you are comfortable during First Aid or Emergency Care training by wearing the correct clothing. You will often need to bend and kneel during the course. Wear casual and loose-fitting clothing. Trousers with a t-shirt are the most comfortable choice as far as your clothes are concerned. Also, wear easy-to-wear, flat shoes like tennis or running shoes or sneakers.

When training with tourniquets in courses including bleeding control training (i.e. Basic First Aid, Stop Life Threatening Bleeding, Wilderness First Aid, AVERT), be aware that the velcro on tourniquets can ruin fabric that it touches.

Some of our first aid courses may involve scenario training including make up or fake bodily substances and laying on the ground. These things may cause stains or damage to clothing.

Wilderness First Aid Students

We recommend that you bring clothing you may wear and gear you may bring with you outdoors, such as a day pack, hiking poles, a sleeping pad and sleeping bag. We recommend that you bring a camp chair as most of our WFA training takes place outdoors. You may bring a first aid kit to be evaluated and get recommendations. (See Recommend Medical Gear)
